it is amazinhow much english you here. you could, if you wanted, survive verry well here without eny spanish. in this inet cafe slash liqur store hey are playing bechboys. strange. hence the title of corse. so today i am deturmened to make up for yesterdays embarisingly short entery.
so hiking up the mountan. veyy long way, but er got there eveantualy. ablut an hour into the hike the tree line gave away to lots of volcanic rock and hill. after about another 10 nimuts we got to the real bitch, pardon the language but it really was. the last bit esa intirly scree. pumec that hac been down to small bits the size of peas from thousands of tromping tourests. it is the kind o thing that where you take 2 steps forword and one back. a real pain in the butt. and without the trees, it was bruatly hot. well, enough complaining.
so, therewe were close to the top. about five minuts from the top, you start so see smoke seeping out of the side of the mountan. our gur=ide warned us that the smoke tasted something foule, so we used our shirts as hankerchis, and continued muwore. finaly we got to the top and looked into the crators of an active volcano. this volcano has 3 crators. wiviseted all three if them. the first n was verry big and not verry active other then gushing large gouts of lung searing smike, it wasn;t doing much. by this time i was dying of a comination of intens heat and sulopher. i threw a rock into the crator and could not her it hit enything. i dont know much about volcano crators. do they go right down to the magna? i dont know.
the next crator was almost the same, except this time i realized that my shues were melting as i stood on the eadge of the crator interly enveloped in a cloud of smike and hot air.
the last crator was the most exciting. it is the most active. you could not stand closer then 5 feet t it without feeling like you were about to burst into flames.
the coolest patr though, was that you could year the lva making noise down there. it was a kind od woooop wooooooop wooooooooop sound. we could only stay a few minuts, partly because of the heat, and also because of the heard of sheep pushing behind us to have a look. well, not sheep really...
funny thing about goin g down hill. so much faster. we got down the scree in 3 minuts. so after emptying our zapats of sharp suveners, we hiked back. on the way we saw that volcan de fuego, another near by active volcano, was puking out abnormaly large amounts of smoke. as it turned out, it ended up erupting later that night. it didn't affect us, but the mounten now has a new point. evedentaly it blew about 6 feet of ash on the farmers in the other side of the mountan thugh. too bad for them. there goes this years coffe crop. nto good.
so after returning to the house, i had a shower, and some lunch and felt like a new parot.
leets see, what happened then.
oh fudge i bon;t know.
oh ya.
we were going tp goto a museum of books but it ses closed, so we went off to have some ice ceam, like a bakinrobems really. in fact, i think that after am done here i will go to that olace and have som mor ice cream.
so i think that some other things happened that day but i have to do today to.
o today.
we went on a walking ture, for 3 hours. verr informative. lurn lots about the history of antigua, but i am not going to bore you with that. one thing that i wil say is that this place seems to have a poloy about runes that goes something like this. we don;t have money to deal with it, so it will gust sit and ruen.
really too bad. lots of buildings that tha back half of is faling down, or spmething like that. sigh.
there are lots of oganizations that want to do something, but you need a lot of time and mula to fix places.
ohwell.
i have this strange feeling that i have forgten to mention something, but it will have to wate. as it is i have writen eough to bore the pants of of everyone, so if you have read this far, give yourself a big pat on the back and go monkeywrench someone's brick.
